Lynx bats come alive

This game was a sweet one for the Lynx.  They, after twice coming close to losing, really put the hurt on Verdun.  They won by a score of 12-5.

The starting pitcher was Nick Trainor but he ran into some trouble in the mid innings and was relieved by Jason Doucet who pitched very well and the game was closed off by Nick Trainor.

The game was tied at 2-2, when a single by Brad Thomas brought in Bobby Lewis from third.  Two walks later Ben Zoldan cleared the bases with a deep triple off the top of the fence in center.  A few more feet and he would have had a grand slam.  That ignited the Lynx offense as they pounded out many more hits to run the score to 12-2, but in the bottom of the seventh, they got a bit sloppy on defense and gave up three runs before finishing off the game strong.

A word of thanks to Dave Goldberg for filling in as coach in the absence of Roger Harte as he is playing softball in Vancouver.

The bonehead play of the game is making a cameo appearance here.  This games play goes to first base coach Terry Doucet.  The bases were full and Jason Doucet hit a looping single to the gap in right center.   Jason, for some reason was thinking two off the bat, and Terry Doucet did absolutely nothing to stop him.  He was gunned at second base by a good 10 feet.   Just because he's his son he thinks he some sort of superman or something.

Sorry for this game report being so short, but the game really wasn't that action packed.  The team is focusing on exacting revenge on St-Jerome on Tuesday.

Quotes:

Brock Bradley to Dave Goldberg with Nick Scheider within earshout about people mispronouncing television show names.       Brock:  "Have you seen that show LaLaw?"
Nick: "Is that that french show?"  Oh Schneider, when will you learn

Obie's 3 stars

3. Bobby Lewis - he complains too much about not getting a star to be left out again
2. Nick Trainor - pitched well enough, and also had another fine day at the plate.
1. Ben Zoldan - broke the game open with that bases clearing triple.
