Let's play 2!
Second Game:
This game was to only go 5 innings, as the coaches agreed before the game. I guess they felt that the pitching couldn't hold up. The coaches decision stands.
This game, the Lynx won by a score of 7-2, when the put up 7 in the bottom of the fourth.
The game was started by Brad Thomas, who pitched 3 decent innings, but far from specatcular. The defense helped him out quite a bit. He was followed by Robert Dias, who pitched a fine inning and was then replaced by Zan Symonds to close off the game.
The bottom of the fourth saw the whole team get some hits. The higlight was 2 consecutive hits batsmen by the Dollard pitcher, Nick Schneider and Donald Cole. In this inning, Nick Trainor was up at bat, and hit a ball very high and very deep to center field. Had he began to run as soon as it was hit, he would have had an easy inside the park homer. But instead, he decided to watch it a bit as he thought it was out. Good old Nick.
Brad Thomas extended his hitting streak to 3 games, with a double which produced 2 RBI's. He had previously come up to bat with the bases loaded, and hit into a double play to basically kill the rally. In the pre-season, he has a .625 batting average, and an astonishing 7 RBI's. Maybe he'll get moved down to fourth. Maybe..... not.
Over the span of both games, Donald Cole reached base 5 times, without getting a hit. He was hit once and had 4 walks. He was pinch run for after each walk, because the league rules permit one free pinch runner per inning for each team. The only time that he put the ball into fair territory, the short stop jumped about 80 feet in the air to snag the line drive that could have been a double. But Adam Ferguson was happy when Donald got on, because that meant that he would run.
A little note here: The Terrence Doucet Cups will be awarded at practice on Wednesday. So expect an update then, maybe sooner.
