Lynx get their just dues
Game #1
The Lynx lost today against the Lynx. No, that's not one of my many typos, but the Lynx did beat the Lynx. Well, there was some St-Jerome thrown in their, but it was mostly the Lynx poor playing. The day was hot, the field was slow, there was too much sun, the players were tired. These are many excuses that the team could have used, but they aren't good enough. What is this, a joke? The team beat themselves plain and simple.
The starting pitcher was Nick Trainor, and he pitched very well till the seventh when he got into some trouble. The Lynx were down 1-0 after the first inning, but then punched accross 2 runs to take the lead. Then St-Jerome scored 3 runs, to push their lead to 4-1. But then the Lynx finally woke up and scored 4 runs, to make it a 5-4 game. In the bottom of the sixth, the Lynx scored 2 more insurance runs but that proved to not be enough. In the top of the seventh, Nick Trainor got the first out by snagging a liner back up the middle. Then he got into some trouble, and left the game with 2 runners on base. Adam Ferguson came in the game, and gave up a hit. The next batter, the cleanup batter, hit a grand slam, to push them ahead 8-7. The Lynx threatened with 1 out in the bottom of the inning, but couldn't put anything across. So the Lynx suffered their first loss of the season.
But the real story of this game was the poor Lynx playing. They had a few defensive lapses at times, and made a few baserunning mistakes. The team did not get the clutch hits like they had been doing in the past few games, and it was not the time for this to happen. But it's good for a team to suffer a loss in the season, and not get too cocky. This brought the team back down to earth.
Talk about a slow field though, normally lightning quick pinch runner Zan Symonds was thrown out twice at second base, in consecutive innings.
